In the lounge where noon has passed,
Voices mingle, memories amassed.
A dozen hearts with stories to tell,
Finding solace where they dwell.
Weathered hands hold chips or cookies,
Each bite a toast to the days of the sixties.
They talk of friends, of dreams once bright,
Of festivals, songs, and warm twilight.
\u201cRemember the movies?\u201d one chuckles with glee,

Another laughs, \u201cAnd the snacks we\u2019d devour,
Though my waistline grew by the hour.\u201d
With canes tapping like gentle beats,
They share their aches, their joys and defeats.
Laughter ripples, a spark takes flight,
Spreading feelings warm and bright.
\u201cDeath\u2019s no stranger, just hanging around,
Peeking in now, not making a sound.
\u2018Who\u2019s next?\u2019 they joke, with a wink and a grin,
Like death\u2019s just a visitor slipping in.\u201d
They laugh about ailments, each tale shines bright,
\u201cLast week I tripped\u2014what a comical sight!
I went down like a kite, though the landing was rough,
And the hospital bill was more than enough!\u201d
Home remedies drift through the air,
\u201cTry yoga,\u201d one says, \u201cor turmeric care.\u201d
A crystal for calm, or a warm herbal brew,
Though my last \u2018magic cure\u2019 nearly gave me the flu!\u201d
In the weave of memories, worries take form,
Stories of children caught in life\u2019s storm.
\u201cWill they visit?\u201d one voice dips low,
\u201cWe gave them love; where did it go?\u201d
But humor breaks through, softening fears,
As they laugh at the years and their peers.
\u201cWho needs the gym with steps in the hall?
Each walk\u2019s a marathon after all!\u201d
They wink at fate, this bittersweet game,
Giving life\u2019s shadows a warm, gentle name.
For life is a feast, each dish a surprise,
Even when served with fond goodbyes.
And so they sit, stitched by the years,
Laughing at sorrows, brushing off tears.
In fleeting moments, they savor the blend,
Finding peace in laughter, right up to the end.
